At each segment, the stalk is split into three branches and leaves and the new branches further split into three branches, forming an irregular geometric shape with a sense of rhythm. This presents the painter with the problem of dealing with the optical illusion as if it should not be sealed to a two-dimensional plane naturally - interestingly, her work on the piece of floral fabric is just like the reverse deduction of this process.
